Israir sues El Al.

[source AW]

Having launched a charter service from Tel Aviv to New York in June 2004, it now appears that the new Israir venture was not a success. Israir announced on December 8, 2004, an eight million New Israeli Shekels ($1.8 million)m lawsuit against the Israeli flag carrier El Al. The Israeli charter airline claimed that El Al countered its venture with an aggresive marketing campaign and that the lawsuit was essential in the light of Israir’s decision to relaunch charter flights from Tel Aviv to New York in the summer of 2005.
ElAl’s response was that the airline’s main competitors on the Tel Aviv to New York route were Continental Airlines of the US and other European airlines offering connections to New York via European hubs. Israir offered fewer than 10,000 seats on the route between June and October 2004 while El Al offers in excess of 5,000 seats per week.

Any comments anyone. I don’t know why Israir is botered about El Al’s advertising. Every airline offers some sort of advertising although some is more effective than others.
