717 line to close?

According to some people at the a.net forum (I know, I know…) Boeing is to close the 717 production line.

I know it hasn’t been selling that much, but still… why would Boeing do that? The 100-seat market has never been terribly hot anyway. The A318 hasn’t sold too good either, but however small that market is I wouldn’t want to abandon it all to my competitors.

Shame. I like the looks of the 717.
