How 2005 should be a good year for Boeing

Boeing have stated they expect this years orders and deliveries to overtake 2004’s total.
Here are a few Boeing tidbits to explain how Boeing predict a bettter order/delivery run this Year:

Boeing are upping 737NG production.
One way to up the production is by making the line move at 3 inches a minutes in stead of the current 2 inches.
For those of you who do not know, the 737 NG is assembled on a moving production line. Like cars are. A completed fuselage shell is fed into the back of the building and over the distance of 300 yard becomes a fully airworthy aircraft and is tugged out the front on its own wheels for painting. A very efficient method.

The 777 production line is getting reviewed with a view to making it cheaper
Boeing stated last year that they wanted to cut the production time of the 777 down by as much as 30-50% if their review proves it is possible.
The 777 line looks to follow the 737’s example of being on a rolling production line, though as it has more to it, it may only roll at 1 inch a minute. But this is far from decided.
However, simply feeding finished fuselage shells into the main assembly line will cut several days off the overall production time, which will help Boeing slash the price of the 777.
As many airlines have chosen A340s/A330s over the 777 due to price… this could help turn that trend.

The 7e7/787 will reach design freeze
Many of its potential customers are likely to order it at that point.
So far it has the most orders any Boeing airliner has received before that stage of development.

On top of all this, Boeing will have a new sales team and will be fighting very hard. With production increasing, prices are sure to drop and with faster deleiveries available…. they have a good product and are almost on par with Airbus’ offerings.

All in all, 2005 looks to be a good year for Boeing
