Very Hot Day @ LBA 17/07/2006

Spent the day at LBA yesterday, absolutely boiling!

Still getting used to the camera, and it was actually the first time I tried it on moving aircraft. I just need to get the focus right and the movement of the camera.

Feedback/advice would be appreciated. 🙂

Paul, to be honest, no idea. I don’t know all that stuff. ISO is set to Automatic, for the other things I’ll have to have a look.

Ah, OK. It’s just very difficult to say how things could be improved without knowing what your camera’s actually doing to get those shots, although having said that if it’s a basic point and shoot type of camera you’re unlikely to get much better than using just the standard automatic setting. I guess it’s just a case of getting as close to the action as possible so you don’t have to crop as much!

Steve, the last one was by the bench.

Mark, which one were you? I’ll say hi next time, if I remember your face. 🙂

I have to remember not to sit by the bench on a hot day, too many wasps and the bench gets very hot. Thanks for comments guys. Going up again on Saturday to try my luck.

Hi Paul
I am also very new to photos of aircraft and see your photos are superb
You ask A330 about aperature, ISO Settings and such like
Is there a quick way to find out how to set these things up correctly or do I need to read up
I have a Fuji S5000 as an entry level camara and have really struggled to get off decent shots , also at Leeds
I have looked on Amazon for a book and have come across DSLR for Dummies , is this a good place to start or is there something better

Many Thanks in advance of any assistance and please keep posting your excellent photos

Best Regards
Paul E Lee

They’ve actually been cropped a bit, especially the bmi ERJ. Having another look at it, it does look very pixelated.

My camera is only one of those compact ones, Nikon Coolpix S1. For the settings, which part are you asking about? Exposure? Scene? I suspect my settings are set wrong, but I don’t know how to correct it either.

By setting I mean… Well… Settings! Did you use shutter/aperture priority? Fully automatic? What was your ISO set to? Metering mode… e.t.c…

What kind of camera are you using and what settings did you have when taking those first two? You really shouldn’t have blurred shots in light like that unless your settings are very wrong or you have a very wide angle lens and you’re cropping a lot!

Nice shot of G-BXOR. I must have taken hundreds of shots of that little plane!
