Aircraft types

I’m not a frequent poster here, but it happens from time to time 🙂 One thing I do not quite understand on this forum, is the heated debates over aircraft types.

We have the Boeing lobby and the Airbus lobby. People exchanging insaults when their ‘pet’ is not being being treated with respect ( in their eyes) it deserves. What is it all about? Most of you have never flown the darn things!! And when I say flown, I mean as being in the drivers seat. One is complaining about hard landings in a Boeing (of course that’s the aircraft’s fault, not the drivers) and another is complaining about engine vibrations in an Airbus ( of course it’s the airframe’s faults, but not the fact that the engines may be close to overhaul, or have suffered fan damage at some stage).

I’m a Boeing driver, I like the Boeing from a pilot’s view. But that’s because I don’t know any other jet. Maybe I would like the Airbus if that was the only thing I knew. What I did before were all turboprops. When I fly as a passanger (which happens frequently), I like the Airbus more. It has a more ‘roomy’ feeling to it.

So, what is it all about? One aircraft looking better than the other? I personally find both types ugly. Show me a Miles Gemini anyday 😉 😀 Both types get their passengers from A to B fairly relaiably. So What is it??
