New Service to BHX!

NEW DIRECT SERVICE TO DENMARK IS ANNOUNCED FROM BIA

The New Year brings good news for Midlands’ travellers, as British Airways’ Danish franchise airline, ‘Sun-Air’, announces it will launch six weekly services from Birmingham International Airport to Billund, in central Denmark, from Monday 4th April 2005.

The new route will provide the only direct service between Birmingham and Billund, removing the need for passengers to travel via alternative European hubs. It will also give Midlanders the chance to fly from their local airport rather than travelling to London or Manchester Airports.

Birmingham International Airport’s Business Development Director, Peter Vella welcomed the news. He said, “We envisage that the service will not only prove popular with business travellers, but also with the leisure passenger wanting to visit the world famous home of LEGOLAND, where adults and children alike can let their imaginations run free. We wish the airline the very best with its venture.”

Assistant Managing Director for Sun-Air, Kristian Tvergaard, said, “This new route will meet the demand of many Danish business people who need a direct route out of Jutland to England’s second largest city. There are Danish companies based in Birmingham, and many with close business relations with Birmingham based companies which will all benefit from this development. Furthermore, exhibitions, conferences and football are important activities for many Danes, all of which are widely available in Birmingham.”

The new service will depart Birmingham at 19:20 arriving at Billund at 22:10. Meanwhile the return flight will depart Billund at 18:00 and will arrive into Birmingham at 18:50. The service will be operated by the airline’s new 32-seat Dornier 328 aircraft.

Reservations can be made via ba.com or by calling British Airways reservations on 0870 8509850.
