With nothing else to do last Thursday evening, I took a little trip along to Basel to see how the repaving of the runway was going.
Unfortunately, there was still nothing to see from the official viewing area, towards the end of 16. Operatinons were from the 34 end, however, so I wondered what kind of pic I could take of aircraft taking off.
Hapagfly 738 D-AHFC wearing ‘Hannover Airport’ Promotional colours was the first aircraft to take off…

I decided it wasn’t ideal, so went up the other end and stood in a field at the 34 end for the first time, trying to see what I could get on short finals.
The first arrival was Swiss RJ100 HB-IXW

Then this Air France Régional F100 arrived from CDG

Next up was the Arrival from Orly, an A320, whose registration I missed.

Swiss Regional carrier Darwin has been operating Swiss’ flights from Basel to Amsterdam and Brussels during the summer, as the RJ’s are too big. well, d’uh. That’s why Crossair was profitable, and the geniuses behind Swiss are losing money.

And on very short final

Last one before I headed was easyJet A319 HB-JZF

Need to reconsider going up to take pics again before the runway reopens on it’s full length in two weeks, but I’ll probably take a few on my way to Glasgow next week (I’m in town Saturday till Thursday).
