A330 has operated GLA-LAS at Max TOW in JULY with no problems in the past.

That’s my point exactly. Then the A332 has proven itself to be a capable performer off of the runway at GLA, and thus EDI.
The B7E7 has not had the opportunity to do this yet. It may need as much runway, it may need more.

Runway length isn’t so much of a problem for the twin jets at GLA & EDI.

It depends where their destination is I suppose.

Excellent news! Roll on the long haul aircraft! 😀
Although given the runway lengths at GLA and EDI I’d of thought the B7E7 is going to have excellent field performance, or Airbus might take the order with the A332?

I would expect boeing as they presntly have B737’s for short haul

Well, the fleets of the world tell us thats not neccessarily the case.
Commonality does not go as far as everyone beleives.
If a manufacturer pitches you a product at a price that would allow for additional crew costs… then you’re going to take it. Hence Air Berlin and the A320, easyJet and the A319 et al.

Besides, the 7E7 and 737 will have nothing in common apart from being from the same manufacturer.

A very interestng bit of news.

If they do indeed order the 7E7 that would put them in a very favourable position to dominate or at least be contenders of the Scottish International holiday market.

Supplying a few 767’s to last the interim period would be a very smart move. Rumours are thats what airbus want to do with the A350. Offer A330’s for the interim.

Perhaps they would use B767’s until they arrived

This is great news, but I aint going to be too happy until I see the headline: “FlyGlobespan orders 2/3 7E7 dreamliners”. Good luck to them. Oz, SA, far east, watch out, some Scots are coming your way, haha 🙂
