easyjet have today confirmed 3 new routes from its Belfast base.Belfast to Inverness was luaghed at by alot of people including myself but its going to happen.
easyJet, Europe’s leading low cost airline, today announced it is expanding its Northern Ireland operations with three new routes connecting Belfast International Airport with Geneva, Inverness and Palma (Majorca).
The Inverness service will be daily and the Geneva and Palma services will be four times weekly.
The new routes start on Friday 1 July 2005, with fares to Inverness from £17.99 one way (£30.98 return including taxes and changes), whilst Geneva and Palma fares are from £22.99 and £27.99 one way respectively. Seats will be on sale at easyjet.com next week.
easyJet recognises the great potential for direct low-cost services connecting Northern Ireland with attractive cities throughout Europe and a greater choice of routes will foster more business and leisure travel in both directions to benefit the local economy.
Belfast International Airport Ltd received assistance for the new easyJet Geneva route from Invest NI subsidiary company Air Route Development (NI) Ltd, which was established by Government to promote economic development in Northern Ireland through improved air access. The scheme also assisted the airport in the establishment of easyJet’s new services to Paris and Nice.
During the last 6 months over 120,000 passengers haven taken advantage of easyJet’s four new direct European routes and sales for the rest of the winter remain strong.
The introduction of these new routes will increase the number of aircraft operating through Belfast International Airport to eight, with 84 daily services to a choice of 17 routes. With close to 3 million passengers travelling through the Belfast base in the last 12 months, it has become one of easyJet’s fastest growing bases, an increase of 9% compared to last year.
Ray Webster, easyJet Chief Executive, said:
“Following the success of our direct services to Spain and France, easyJet is delighted to be adding Geneva, Inverness and Palma to our network.
easyJet views Belfast as a vibrant and highly attractive market with great potential and we look forward to announcing more new routes to main city destination airports in the near future.”

Easyjet today announced they will start flights from LTN to BTS
Today easyJet welcomes yet another Eastern European destination to its network when it launches services to Bratislava from London Luton Airport. The daily services are from £40.98 return including tax and the airline expects to carry almost 100,000 passengers on the route in the first year.
easyJet is now the low-cost leader for flights to Eastern Europe, serving eight cities in seven countries with 30 flights a day. With an increase in its operations to the region by a phenomenal 500%, the largest low cost carrier for Eastern Europe expects to carry 2.6million passengers on these new routes in the next 12 months.
To celebrate the launch of Bratislava, the gateway to Slovakia and Austria, easyJet will be hosting a free classical concert playing the works of Mozart and Vivaldi at the Milton Keynes shopping centre today, Wednesday 8 December. As well as being able to find out more about the destination, there will be a chance for shoppers to win flights to the Slovakian Capital.
Not only is Bratislava a beautiful neoclassical, gothic and yet modern city, it is great value for money as well as a short journey across the Austrian border to the stunning city of Vienna, which means visitors can combine two classic city tours into one trip.
Bratislava is situated on the banks of the Danube, overlooked by a 15th century castle and has many cultural and historic attractions in its compact and pedestrians old town which also has a vibrant cafe culture.
Vienna is a magnificent city, thriving in cultural history, with splendid imperial architecture and a centre for the arts and the world’s music capital. With attractions as varied as art galleries to the giant Ferris wheel, or opera performances to the famed horse ballet at the Spanish Riding School, there is something for everyone. Strolling around in the footsteps of the Habsburgs, admiring the regal surroundings, it is easy to understand why the city was such an inspiration to the great music composers.
easyJet CEO Ray Webster said:
“easyJet continues to recognise the great potential for expansion into Eastern Europe and we are delighted to begin operating flights to the beautiful City of Bratislava. As the gateway to Slovakia and Austria, we expect Bratislava to attract both business and leisure passengers.
easyJet flights to and from Eastern Europe have grown by a phenomenal 500% in the last year and we now operate to eight cities, in seven Countries, carrying over 2.6 million passengers a year, making easyJet the clear low cost leader for Eastern Europe”

BA pulled out early November or December 2001 as i remember flying on one of the last few weeks of flights to LHR on an A319 from Belfast Intl.
bmi were offered free slots at EGAC so moved but for a while did operate an early morning service and evening service due to pressure from MPs but it didnt do well and failed.
There was talk of bmi using free landing fees offer to move bmi baby to Belfast City, EGAC, but this hasent come about as people were talking about it happening last Janurary!

Why havnt Easy statrted many new LPL routes recently. Is it theres no market which I doubt or are they just concentrated on bases elsewhere.
They’ve just neglected LPL a bit and let other carriers, like Wizzair, operate routes which i thought easy would after May 1st.
I think the LGW base as been a concentration area because it is very profitable for them.
