Hello all,
I have spent a couple of days airside @ LHR with work this week, and on Monday I saw a BA 737 parked at T1 – i was under the impression all had gone to LGW, or has one been left behind?

I see where you are coming from MarkL, but the problem is lack of Airbus aircraft due to problems with a new engineering computer system.
The 4 321’s don’t cover the shortfall of 320’s and 319’s at LHR so a 737 has been brought in. The Titan wet-lease has to be kept for a little longer anyway, and is for some reason cheaper if it operates from LGW, so it was sent down there and the 737 kept at LHR.
The idea of a Airbus fleet at LGW has been put on hold for the forseeable future.

Exactly what I thought when I saw it there Mark L! Unless the Titan was not being used for BA flights, but I doubt it as it was @ North terminal.

I don’t think you can disagree though that it is an apalling use of resources!

1 737 is doing UK Domestic flights from LHR, alongside a Titan 737. Also an Iberia A320 is doing some of BA’s LHR-MAD flights. This all started a month or two ago, and capacity problems were cited as the reason, however since then they have acquired 4 new A321s, but still continue with these expensively leased aircraft
The A321 are being used for Euorpean routes and to replace the 757s that they returned over the last few Years , nothing to do with the 737 as these are being replaced by the A319s A320s
In total there will be 10 321 , off which 3 will be going to GB airways

Rather ironic that, bring across a 737 from LGW to LHR to cover capacity, fill that capacity with new aircraft, fail to relocate the 737 to LGW, and end up paying through the nose for a Titan one

On Monday one 734, G-DOCX, was flying out of LHR and went to NCL and GLA. No BA 320’s (or 319’s or 321’s) at LGW. Only the GB Air 320’s and 321’s.

Nope they are back.Correct me if Im wrong but I think BA have decided to make LGW an all Airbus base first and then LHR I heard somthing like that. After reading it it sounds a bit gibberish.
Anyone know the real reason?
