Lion Air MD-82 crash!

Heres the latest not alot of info emerged yet….

PLANES LEAVES RUNWAY

An airliner has skidded off a runway while landing at provincial airport in Indonesia – killing at least 31 people and injuring about 60.

The Lion Air MD-82 passenger flight had taken off from the capital Jakarta with more than 146 passengers and seven crew members aboard, officials said.

It crashed while trying to land at Adi Sumarmo airport in the tourist town of Solo.

The plane skidded off the runway, broke in two and ended up in a cemetery next to the airport.

Firefighters and police officers were searching for survivors and removing the injured to waiting ambulances, according to local radio reports.

Many were still trapped inside the wreckage nearly three hours after the crash, the radio said.

A spokesman for Lion Air, Indonesia’s top budget carrier, confirmed the crash but could not provide any additional details.

Lion Air, one of several new no-frills airlines in Asia, is poised for expansion in the coming months.

The airline announced earlier this month that it was leasing the little-used Halim Perdanakusma airport in Jakarta, purchasing more than 25 new planes and adding new routes.

If it aint snow what is it as there isnt any Foam around aircraft (spread by airport fire services)

Ground is wet, water in the air…. no fire tenders visably spraying anything

Logic dictates it is RAIN

Some sad news indeed – and apparently the 3rd aircraft out in Indonesia in the 36 hours! to have over-run the runway. A Bouraq 737-200 (PK-IJH) Slipped from the runway, and before that an Indonesian Air Force Hawk aircraft did the same.

R.I.P to those who sadly passed away. Reports are suggesting that some of the passengers were found in a pretty bad state – also sadly that a baby has been found dead in the wreckage.

Aircraft apparently hit a graveyard also.

PK-LMN was the aircraft involved.

The Forward cabin looks a right mess.

Sometimes its better to be in economy methinks.

RIP to the unfortunates
