The Swedish regional airline Swe Fly is soon taking delivery of its first widebody, Boeing 767-200 SE-RBV.
Swe Fly is currently operating two Fokker 50 on domestic routes in Sweden, from Stockholm-Arlanda to Kalmar and to Karlskrona. With the 767, the airline will open a new route from Skavsta (100 kms south of Stockholm) to somewhere in Asia. Exact destination will be presented shortly according to their website. The airline itself was formerly known as Svea Flyg but changed to this stupid name a year ago when F50 operations started.
As can be seen on the photo, they’ve mainly ripped off Aeroflot, changed the colours and added their hideous logo on the forward fuselage… added Airline of Sweden titles above the wings and added their website address on the forward fuselage. What’s people supposed to do with that? Write down the address when they see the plane at an airport and then go home and have a look at the site? Why not put their email address on the wings? 😉
I think it is time for Airliner World or any other airliner hobby magazine to start investigate why all lowcost airline liveries are so disgraceful – is it a requirement from the aircraft lessor? You can look great but still offer a cheap product, you know. The same applies to new airline liveries in general, why are they so similar all the time? Where is the originality, where is the sense of style?
Some say that the customer doesn’t care how the aircraft are painted, so this debate is meaningless – well then, why aren’t the planes either all-white or all-metal without any trim at all if so? But the airlines spend millions of money on design consultancies, so the identity must mean something after all. Why not use a little style then, when the money has to be spent anyway? Very few newly presented liveries look good these years. Why?

indeed.
I decided for the globe, merely as a mark of respect for the other accomplishments of your ancestors… namely traveling the globe in boats no bigger than the average bus today.
Todays world is far to “politically Correct” and its getting bland because of it

good to see a scandinavian noticed the meaning of my designs 🙂 Mission accomplished 😀
See folks, sometimes there is much more to a livery that nice colours and/or curves
Oh yes, but in this day and age of political correctness, things like these are frowned upon. I was taught in school that the fact that Sweden once was a superpower is nothing to be proud of – just like the Brindfors agency that persuaded MD Jan Carlzon and the other members of the SAS Politburo in 1982-83 that people around the world think of raping, pillaging and looting when they see the SAS dragon head logo and that a totally new identity was needed. Thus came the flagstripe livery which was presented to the world on 12 April 1983…

Well, BMused, that once again proves that many people in this business are idiots… The globe on the tail is genious, a small historical wink to the ancient Swedish globetrotting tradition from the viking days!
I have given up on the airline business in my country. They all look awful and it started with SAS in 1998 when the ‘epileptic lego’ livery was presented. And now they’ve forced AirBaltic to use a similar livery with different colours…
