On 2nd November we spent the afternoon in the Aviation Experience in BHX, the day before we flew out to Brussels. The weather could not have been worse – very overcast and dim conditions, not ideal for photgraphy at all, but nothing stops me taking photos of aircraft, even bad weather. 😀
1. The Virgin Voyager arriving in York. We caught this train to Birmingham International. Takes around 2 and a half hours.
2. The Sky Rail thing which links BHX terminal 1 with Birmingham International station.
3. Airline seats in the Aviation Experience.
4. Inside the spotting gallery in Aviation Experience.
5. The Slovakian 757. We had a great view of this from the train, but when we arrived in the spotting area we saw it was way over the other side and I could not get a good photo of it 🙁
6. An ARJ of British Airways taxying for take off.
7. A British Airways ERJ145 passes an Emirates 777 on the way to take off.
8. A Britannia 757.
9. The model of the DH Comet.
10. MyTravel and Britannia.

Thanks for comments and great to get the ID on the CRJ, that’s my first Eurowings aircraft.
The photos were taken from Aviation Experience, but as I said, conditions were so bad that I had to switch my camera to night mode, and I could not get the shots I wanted. I did not have my camera in “liveview” (with the screen used as a viewfinder) because I needed to conserve battery power to make a video with it the day after (BHX shops did not stock the correct batteries for my camera so I was unable to top up). The digital zoom of my camera, which is quite strong, will only work in liveview, and as my camera is a replacement for one which broke down, I did not want to do something which the manual says you should not use too much. It is a very new camera and I am still learning with it. I know what you can get from the Aviation Experience, I was there in March with better weather and a camera I had more experience with.
We were lucky with our Virgin train, it left York on time, we managed to get seats and it was not too late arriving at BHX. I have read real horror storiews about Virgin Trains though 🙁

This gives a very good idea of what to expect at BHX and views from the indoor spotting area. Depending on the time of day, there are plenty more of other airliners of interest as well. In good weather the outside area is great, but in bad weather the indoor is a useful alternative. Thanks for your photos!

Well its very simple, you come out of T2 or T1 and turn right. You then continue to walk straight past T2 and this large wall on the right and follow the signs that say Viewing Area. Once past the wall if you look right you will see one side of T2 with all the BA aircraft.
Just keep walking along the path and past the long stay carpark on the left and the line up of aicraft on T2 on the right. This path will eventually bring you to the viewing area.
If all else fails just ask someone who works in the airport or one of the cab drivers that are parked in the long stay carpark i mentioned. 😀

Wow thats fantastic – I suppose I wouldnt have wanted to stay outside on a day like when Comet went! The aviation experience does look like a fantastic facility, just prefer to get a bit closer myself!
Im gonna try and get down to BHX early next year – Maybe we can meet Tom? 🙂

Nice shots – Shame about the weather, your quite along way from the action in there aren’t you ?
The Aviation Experiance is the Indoor Area, this shot i took of an EK B772 shows you how close you get at the Outdoor Viewing Area, thats with little zoom needed. Sorry about putting this pic up Comet 😮 , i’m just trying to show these guys how good the Outdoor Viewing area is. 😀

I remember the Virgin Trains well from when I went to the NEC, spent a bloody hour just crawling along because of a ‘broken down’ train in front of us 😀

Very Kool Shots there indeed!!! 😀 😀 😀
You shots show a good overview of BHX regulers, i hant been in the Aviation Experiance for a while now as i’m always outside and you were lucky to see that MYT B763 as i havnt seen that in ages! 🙂 Those shots make you realise how big the EK B772 is compared to the people below it and that unknow CRJ is a “Eurowings” CRJ-200 andi think you have it in that special scheme too.
Here’s a pic i took of that Eurowings CRJ you took. 😀 (it might not be the same one, i dunno how many they have in this scheme  )
