Wonder what was with the funny parking positions at the then international pier. Most aircraft in those days appeared to come towards gate then turn away rather than nose in.
No tow-bars for either the Tu-154 or the IL-62 in those days, or indeed these days at least for the Tu-154 apparently!

Hi,
Great photos! 🙂
I noticed something in your other thread with the scanned ‘nostalgia’ photos that I meant to mention … in the third photo, with the BA plane in the foreground , …. check out the STAIRS!! 😮 Somehow I doubt they would get past the Health & Safety chaps these days!
Gary
The BA Viscount? If it’s the steps at the forward port door well these were for the engineers/ground crew use only, pax entered by the port aft door. 😉

Brilliant shots….Brings back loads of memories of my early career as a Traffic Officer with Servisair, none of the other T/Os ever wanted to ramp these types so it was usually down to me on our shift…would’nt have missed any of them!

Those IL-62 Tarom shots are brilliant! More of these are welcome anytime! All very nice shots.
