Spotting out my window

Terrible weather here in Manchester this afternoon, so I thought I’d watch some aircraft landing at MAN!
One thing I noticed is the aircraft seemed to be struggling to fly through the horrid wind! Can the amount of wind affect the speed of an aircraft as all the planes today seem to be going very slow!! 😮
Here is what I saw, I gave up once it got to around 5:45 due to it getting too dark.
