Pilot Union: Airbus knew of A300 crash risk.

Full story here

WASHINGTON – An internal memorandum shows that Airbus knew the tail on its A300-600 jetliner was subject to failure more than four years before an American Airlines flight lost its tail and crashed in New York in 2001, an official with the airline’s pilots union said Monday.

Interesting and certainly inflammatory article, to say the least.

This one’s been doing the rounds on PPRUNE for a while now, Sandy.

It pops up every now and then – might be worth your while having a look over there.

As is usually the case, there’s rather more to it than what makes the headlines, and fingers have also been pointed towards AA’s flight training and operating procedures.

How many other A300-600 tails have failed in this way?
