MYT Boeing update

I would like to update you on some alterations to the Fleet Reduction Proposals.

The Company is in discussions with our aircraft lessors as a result of which we may amend the mix of aircraft that we retain. The likelihood, although, as yet not confirmed, is that we will retain three 757s for up to two years, releasing some A320/A321 aircraft. The total number of aircraft in the UK will remain as previously planned.

As the 757s are released over the subsequent two years they will be replaced by Airbus. In summary the number of aircraft will remain the same but the mix would alter. The longer term aim of a common Airbus fleet remains. It is important to reiterate that this is the most likely outcome, but is still subject to final confirmation.

This opportunity means we will get some commercial benefit whilst still moving to the Fleet size that we believe fits our Tour Operator capacity needs to maintain good margins on holidays sold. It does, of course mean that we will still move to a single fleet but this will be deferred. We are now working to ensure we are re-planning to be able incorporate this.

In terms of impact on the need for redundancies it has a limited impact as the need for reductions in headcount is driven by fewer aircraft. For Cabin Crew however, due to the higher crew complement requirements for 757 compared to A320/321, this reduces the need for reduction by around 20 roles. This is being calculated and those put β€˜not at risk’ will be informed as soon as possible. We have already updated your collective consultation teams on this information.

Overall, whilst this opportunity has created the need to revise some operating plans, the strategy to move to a single fleet of the correct size remains.

If you have any queries about this change please make sure you raise them with your manager.

Cheers for the concern lads but Finningly is further away from here than Manchester is. Looks like i will have to go out of aviation for a bit. Jet2, BMI and KLM are all recruting at LBA however not being fussy, but a cleaner at the airport is on Β£2000 a year more ? Not willing to work for peanuts. Nothing against cleaners either. πŸ™‚

W patterns are already planned using the BHX based aircraft but they are looking at the possibility of basing one airframe there.

For some strange reason I still get e-mails from TCX. They are talking about ops from Finningly (possibly with a based aircraft there). Excuse my geographical ignorance oop north but would that be convenient employment?

Thats a shame Lyndon, have you started looking for a job with another airline?

Good news that will be probably seeing the 757s for a while longer yet though πŸ™‚

Those figures are based on the MAN crew figures. However as LBA is closing as a base i am having to take redundancy as there is no real other option for me.
