bmi to look at India from LHR

Taken from PPrune

bmi, the UK’s second largest full-service scheduled airline, today confirmed its plans to launch services from Heathrow to Mumbai and from Heathrow to Bangalore. bmi plans a daily service between Heathrow and Mumbai and a six-times-weekly service between Heathrow and Bangalore

Well bmi are trying to get those extra UK-India flights that have been granted by both govements, and possibly this is the start of A330 ops from LHR? Allthough i want to see bmi do good at LHR, thats only short-haul. MAN has the much more need for an India fligh following the departure of Air India back in 1999, and also bmi will have plenty of cometiton from BA and Air India etc. Though they have a excellent cabin service so i don’t see why not they could be a sucsess, tho i hope theystill concentrate ops from MAN aswell.
2 extra A330’s will be nedded for this
Tim Bye said that the LHR ops could get larger than the MAN ops! 🙁
Well see wot happens!

I guess bmi will plug MAN-LHR-India services, the reverse of the existing LHR-MAN-USA services. I agree that MAN could do with a new service to India – demand must easily be sufficient.
