A humming sex toy has sparked a major security alert at an airport in Australia.
Staff, at Mackay airport in Queensland, sounded the alarm when they heard a strange noise coming from a bin bag in a cafe at the terminal.
Cafe manager Lynne Bryant said: “It was rather disconcerting when the rubbish started humming furiously. We called security and next minute everybody was being evacuated while they checked it out.”
Passengers and staff working at the check-in, car hire and cafe were evacuated from the terminal while the bin was inspected.
A police spokeswoman said: “Another two flights were expected to land at that stage but alternative arrangements were made for the passengers to collect their luggage away from the terminal.”
However, a closer inspection of the humming bin revealed the culprit was a vibrating sex toy and the all clear was given.
Ms Bryant said in retrospect the humming had sounded like a vibrator.
She said: “You can’t afford to take chances.” :diablo:
