Osaka Not Alowing 747,777 from 2005!

Beginning sometime next year ITM will no longer support large aircraft such as B747 B777 due to noise pollution complaint brought about by the locals. ITM will slowly be support by CRJs, Dash, B767, B737, and B7E7.

i got this from http://www.airliners.net/open.file/682487/L/

is ther another airport in osaka that could take the 747,777 or will this lead to many more flights having to come in??

surly is that happends there will be more noise and polution??

I’d be curious to see the A380’s footprint next to the others as well. Despite its massive size it is said that it will be fairly quiet.

I’m curious where the Airbus widebodies would fit into that depiction.

No Airbus widebodies operate into Itami with the exception of JAS/JAL’s A300s, because it only handles domestic traffic – no Japanese airline has the new-gen Airbuses like the A330/A340.

This is an interesting move – whilst both JAL/JAS and ANA use 747s and 777s on domestic runs to Itami, the airport really is ill-equipped to handle such large airplanes as its ramps and terminals are relatively small. Removing the possibility of using 747s and 777s on domestic routes will likely increase the number of movements, because as has already been said a number of these flights at peak times operate full.

I wonder how much of that noise is engine related or airframe related. Some aircraft have fairly quite engines but the airframe screams as it passes by.

Its really beneficial i believe, because really Osaka Kansai should be the one handling larger aircraft and leave Itami to handle smaller aircraft.

This proposal would seriously affect operations at Osaka Itami/ITM as both JAL and ANA operate most of their shuttle flights from Tokyo Haneda/HND with B777/747s. I flew on a B747-400D on this route 2 years ago; there were 560 passengers on the flight! ITM is quite central whereas Kansai is nearly a 1 hr journey from central Osaka.

Correct, not too hard to figure out, I suppose. Please note that I don’t want to get involved in the A v B squabbling, being a resident of Sweden I’m strictly neutral!

I’ll leave it to you to guess which is which – one is the B 747-200 and the other the A340-600.
