LAX television drama

I noticed a mention on the Emmy awards the other night about a new soap opera on US tv about the comings and goings at LAX, i don’t suppose it’ll be long before it reaches our shores, here’s a link if anyone’s interested

If you mute the show it’s not nearly as bad. 😀

I was really going along with the ‘it must be awful’ idea right up until the point you mentioned Heather Locklear was in it!

Mile High isnt serious watching but fun lite entertainment. Who cares if they show a handle (like that in a disabled loo) on the outside of a 737 door half the fun is pointing out the flaws to bemused family and friends

Mile high is pathetic! Who writes it? The actors are atrocious. Nice pretty lads and lasses in it though!!!!

It’s probably not just aviation related things that the media always gets wrong. We only notice it because we have knowledge in that area, but anything about anything else in films, documentaries and even the news will also have many errors.

When you know how badly reported aviation incidents are in the news (i.e. the simplest thing wrong), it makes me wonder how bad everything else is reported. After all, most of us get all our knowledge of the world’s happenings from the news so if everything is always reported wrongly we must have a very distorted view of everything! How hard can it be for ‘professional’ news workers to get things even close to correct?

The show has Heather Locklear and Blair Underwood. For those not familiar with these names, Ms. Locklear’s speciality is adding sexy spitfire energy to any soap opera. “She’ll claw and scratch her way to the top” is the statement that comes to mind. Mr. Underwood has had one running in some daytime soap and his accomplishments don’t even stand out.

The first episode was more about the two trying to sabotage each other’s careers rather than the goings on around the airport.

Trouble is they’re made for the general public at large and not aviation workers and enthusiasts who know better.

It always makes me laugh to see shows, dramas and movies that mock up active television studios, galleries or news shoots, with all of their technical inaccuracies. 😀

It always amazes me how much money some of these TV programs and films spend on production, but they get the simplest things wrong when it comes to anything aviation related, how much can a technical advisor cost???? I bet it’s a lot less than a few car chases or explosions.

My significant other said the worst issue was the incorrect use (lack) of proper lingo. I guess they were refering to runways as “22 R and 22 L” instead of “22 Right and 22 Left.” There was more but she didn’t want to talk about it anymore. 🙂

Can anything be more stupid than that “Mile High” program on sky?

I saw the first episode. It’s awful. Whoever gave consulting advice to the cast were supposedly paid – but ignored.

If you know anything about aviation this is this the worst show EVER. I personally haven’t watched it but numerous crewmembers I work with have and they were disgusted.
