At least you haven’t got photos of SE-DPM or SE-DPU in your collection. They were horrible.

All great photos – the L1011 was a truly special aircraft

I do have to say there are some hoffific c/s in those shots, but a great aircraft nethertheless. I still daily see HZ-HM5/6 of the Saudis here at LBG, now that is a smart livery!

Memory jerkers indeed! Thanks for sharing..

Air Transat’s Tri-Stars were replaced at EDI by A310s
but are fondly remembered.

One of my favourite planes, what’s that livery though on the Air Atlanta bird… Hawaiian ?

Yes it is, though I believe the CC a/c operated for Air Ops on their arrival in Europe

It doesn’t seem that long ago that the L1011 was the state of the art in commercial aviation

Great shots! I can remember seeing Peach, CC and ATA regularly at MAN as a young teenager. Didn’t that CC L1011 also operate for Air Ops at some point? (there’s another Air Ops L1011 in the background, to the left of the HY IL62).

Excellent photos again, there is an L1011 that flies into Filton now and again and I can see it on base leg from my parents house sometimes, looks like some kind of government plane or RAF one, I will try and keep a camera handy to snap it, very nice to see some in service still

Wow, those pictures sure bring back some memories. The Rich International and ATA L-1011’s use to be daily visitors here as recently as 5-6 years ago. Now they are all long gone.

Can’t see it myself, to be honest. Too much competition at MAN, from bmiBaby, Hapag-Lloyd Express (and Air Berlin from November), and V-Bird.

As we all know, Ryanair are somewhat allergic to the “C” word. 😀

Is that ‘City’ due to their tendency to operating into tin sheds stuck in the middle of nowhere? 😉 Or ‘Competition’? 😉 I wonder… :p

Not to mention easyJet less than an hour down the M56.

No, we’ve still got them and word is that they’re about to expand at MAN. 😉

To be more specific I was referring to their unpaid fees at STN is it not? and Brussels and…. 😉

they’re about to expand at MAN.

If true, unlucky you. 😉 :diablo:

Uzbekistan Airways – they used to serve MAN but switched to BHX when the small matter of unpaid landing fees was raised with them. 😉

Sounds remarkably like another airline today! Ryanair 😉

Beautiful Britannia! some ace shots there! Peach air, only saw it the once – but imo a nice livery.

WHo owns the IL-62 in the second shot?
