I know it’s only a bit of metal but I feel a bit upset, it was a regular at newcastle for football charters 🙁

One of the 747-300 being used by Iberia (Air Atlanta) is ex PP-VOC of Varig. It had a double engine failure last week en route to JFK and returned to MAD after 2 hours.
Somebody I know was on the flight and that is what they were told by the crew.

A lot of them have come out of the desert, I can’t think of any previous airlines off the top of my head, although the fleet stands at 26 747s now. 2 -400s, 5 -300s, and 19 -200s. Several have been scrapped recently, and there are no -100s left if they ever operated them?
They certainly did operate B741s – TF-ATE as said above was my ride for several days in October 2002

May I ask, what is so special about one plane getting scrapped?
Well, guess its because its such an old aircraft which UK spotters have seen many times, the fact its a B747 and probably other reasons…. 😮

Dont think they will be scrapping any more B747s yet as they are being put in the new cargo livery, well, I believe one has anyway!

2 744s operating for Iberia, but they have bought 5 or so more 742/743s in the last few weeks, presumably as they are so damn cheap at the moment.
Do you know where the 743’s came from Mark ?

Air Atlanta recently bought their first 744 which is leased to Iberia currently. Does anyone know if with the scrapping of TF-ATC (and presumably the others will join suit) whether or not Atlanta plan any more 744 purchases ?

Sad to see – i almost flew on her, but was changerd to another few sectors on TF-ATE instead – last i heard of that it was in US storage – presumable going the same way!

Britannia,
What is the software containing the info on TF-ATC? I know there are numerous different ones on the market, but I was wondering which one this is?

Shame, TF-ATC was one of the most recent of 747 visits to EDI for the Scotland v France rugby international back in March.
