Some interesting visitors to Prestwick today, mainly in the shape of the massive An-22 transporter but also some other things including a Boeing 707 tanker and a pair of USAF F-18 Super Hornets !
The Air Atlanta 747 was doing touch and goes most of the afternoon
Proper pics later… 😀

Well then there is no excuse for the flag to be wrong on it! 😮
The flag is displayed at is would appear on a flagpole.
Picture the forward edge of the plage on a pole; If you look at the flag on the port side(left side) of the aircraft it is correct. But from the opposite direction it is back to front.
Look at american aircraft… same thing.
It comes from Navy boats flying the flag. People viewing the flag o nthe left side of the ship saw a correct flag.
People viewing the flag from the right side saw it reversed.
Hope I explained this ok.

I’d think it’s “wrong way round” as it would be the reverse of the side that the VIP’s get in on and they’re treating the tail leading edge as the flag pole…?

Yip, call it Queen’s Flight, Royal Squadron, RAF 1st class whatever you want? Just don’t let Prince Charles try and land one ! 😮
And if Tony Blair got to use it…it would be called Blair Force One! 😀

The union flag on the tail of the 146 is back to front, what airline is that anyway?

Their new, grey scheme is, according to them, because it doesn’t get dirty so fast

Add to that the fact that Omega Air is a civilian company, so seeing the planes on airports isn’t surprising at all. (Their new, grey scheme is, according to them, because it doesn’t get dirty so fast)

Which explains their prescence at PIK how…? 😉
The USAF have a refuelling arrangement with PIK, the F-18’s and Omega 707 were parked up amidst Eurpopean air shows AFAIK? They were heading to Scandinavia for a couple of shows in Denmark and Sweden over the weekend I’m told.
PIK has been used by the USAF as either a base or staging post for almost as long as PIK has been in existence.

Yup, it is an air to air refueller. Apparently, that company is teaming up with Evergreen to convert DC-10s to KDC-10 standard for the same role. They hope to get a contract from the RAF until the FSTA enters service.
And the Subpar Hornet surely needed AAR to get to Farnborough… 😀

Superb pics, that 707 brought those Hornets to Farnborough in the airshow weeke, and came in and out as a support aircraft twice. Not entirely sure what its up to at PIK though as its certainly not its first time there :S
