TOKYO (AFP) – Japan’s biggest heavy machinery maker Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. said it would build a plant to manufacture wings for Boeing’s next-generation 7E7 Dreamliner jet, scheduled for launch in 2008. By making wings for Boeing’s jets, we would like to upgrade our technology and boost sales in our aerospace business,” a Mitsubishi spokesman said.
He declined to confirm a report by the business daily Nihon Keizai Shimbun that Mitsubishi Heavy would invest at least 35 billion yen (318.2 million dollars) in the project.

As are most of the Boeing heavies
Yes, but more so for the 7E7
I think literally only small parts manufacture and general assembly will be done in the US.

Boeing made it clear from day one that the 7E7 will be built by several different companies and nations

Ah-hah! So that £1.5 billion “contribution” to production costs of the 7E7 wings from the Japanese government paid off after all.
Before anyone kicks off, this “contribution” is a matter of recorded fact and not anyone’s subjective opinion.
Sounds like a “subvention” that Boeing will never complain about ….
