For all you 757 ppl
AIRLINER TO MAKE RARE APPEARANCE AT DUXFORD AIR SHOW
A Boeing 757 airliner is to take part in the Duxford 2004 Air Show on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September when it will appear alongside a host of classic and historic aircraft at this family air display.
The airliner, operated by DHL and based at East Midlands Airport, is scheduled to carry out a dramatic flying display on both days of the Show, which will feature some 40 different aircraft types from Spitfires to helicopters and fast jets.
The Boeing 757 is a truly impressive aircraft with its hi-tech wing design and Rolls-Royce powered engines making it one of the quietest and most fuel-efficient airliners in the world. The 757 scheduled to appear at the Show is one of 34 currently in service with DHL operating throughout Europe carrying DHL customers’ freight for urgent, next-day delivery. Says Duxford’s Marketing & PR Manager Tracey Woods “We are delighted to have the DHL 757 at the Show as it gives our visitors the opportunity to see something a little different alongside some of our air show favourites. A 757 has not been seen at Duxford before and is sure to thrill the crowd with its manoeuvrability and skilful display.”
The show will also feature an exciting and broad range of some of the very best of British aircraft including a Meteor jet – the first RAF jet fighter, the Hurricane which was the first fighter to exceed 300 mph and the Jet Provost which marked a transition for the RAF from a piston trainer aircraft to a basic jet trainer. Alongside these will be other air show favourites, such as the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’s Lancaster, the Utterly Butterly wingwalkers, the legendary Spitfire and the high-speed front-line RAF Tornado jet.
The whole of the Museum’s 85-acre heritage complex will be open for visitors to explore and enjoy, including trade stands and funfair rides for children. Gates open 8.00 am. NB – The Red Arrows will display on Sunday 5 September only. Flying programme commences at 2.00 pm. Discounted and VIP tickets available in advance. Call the air show hotline on 01223 499301 to find out more about the flying programme and ticket availability. Ticket prices on the day – Adults £22.50, Senior Citizens £14, Children and Concessions £7. Children under 5 free.

Yes it’s still a fine aircraft. I’m just saying that the statement is incorrect as it is definitely not cutting edge.

Well that bit certainly made me laugh…one thing the 757 wing most definitely isn’t is high tech! Boeing played very safe when chosing the aerofoil for the 757.
Must have been a good choice though

If it as ‘dramatic’ as the display at the Rolls Royce Centenary display at Donnington Park (a couple of straight and level flypasts), I shouldn’t alter your weekend plans just to see it….mind you, airline pilots doing ‘dramatic’ is probably not a good thing!
