This afternoon I was at AMS hangar 12 where the tail of a retired KLM 747 Combi was removed. The machine is being prepared for a trip over the water and road to become a landmark at the Aviodrome in Lelystad. The 747, in spite of its age, looked like new, but that was because the KLM just resprayed the entire airframe. It is expected that the Jumbo is on show in lelystad before the end of the year. Nice to see it put to good use rather than fall victim to the wreckers hammer
