Evacuated airport declared safe
Terminal Two is the smaller of the airport’s two terminals
An airport terminal that was evacuated after a suspicious bag was found has been declared safe by police.
Officers were called to Manchester Airport’s Terminal Two at about 1635 BST on Wednesday.
All passengers who were due to fly out from the terminal were asked to make their way to nearby Terminal One until further notice.
Bomb experts checked the bag and confirmed it did not contain explosives just after 1830 BST.
Congestion around the airport was expected to clear after security cordons were lifted in the area.
Terminal Two handles long-haul international charter flights and some services offered by low-cost carriers.
The incident came after a 34-year-old man was fined on Tuesday night at the same terminal after he claimed to be carrying drugs and a firearm in his luggage.
A search of his luggage proved inconclusive and the claims were found to be false.
He was issued with a fixed penalty fine under the Public Order Act and was not allowed to travel on his scheduled flight.

Why do these idiots say they have drugs and bombs when they don’t? They are wasting police time when they could be sorting out a real bomb case!
It’s not so much the police whose time is being waste, but also the passenger. We’re at the busiest time of the year for travel and many passengers would have been jetting off to the sun for a week or two. Having spent hundreds of pounds for their break, the last thing any of them want is a delay because of some fool leaving their bag unattended.
With the world on such a high terror alert; especially these ‘western’ countries, people should know better than to abandon their belongings for any period of time in such a place. Even at my local train station, with just two platforms, there are automatic announcements every 4 or 5 minues, advising passengers not to leave their bags alone.
