Remember # 103 …. The HOT towel

Died a death on UK charter airlines recently but do you remember the days when Hostesses came around with towels which seemed to be heated in Nuclear reactors, yet within 30 seconds they were cold?!?!?!

Are there any airliners around the world still trying to scald their passengers in this way???

I’ve never really been sure why the airlines persue the hot towel idea…bearing in mind the only other place you get one is down at the Star of India after 5 lagers and a madras!

I supose it gives folk that “fresh and clean” feeling after a meal. Something that you certainly would prefer to feel while on a long flight.

I think you’ll find that the pop beat combo “Busted” are actually aimed at the 8 to 8 and a half year old market. (lol)

They had a record out about fancying an Air Hostess recently Bmused, in fact all their records seem to be about planes, what was that other song they had out…. “I’ve been away on the Air 2000 ”

Sorry, I’m probably not the most politically correct person you will read, BTW The term AIR HOSTESS is making a comeback thanks to Busted, the teen rock group aimed at the 8-12 year old market.

uh!

Ah yes, when flight attendants were called Air Hostesses

Most “real” airlines still provide hot towels… If you ever get offered one on Ryanair, you’ll know they’ve just launched their next new innovation – passengers clean the aircraft to help reduce costs!!!

Yes they still exist, just last summer on Air Canada from YYZ-LHR they came around with them. Quite nice touch really.

Sorry, forgot to add that this was in Coach class.

I’m almost certain they still exist; I’ve flown recently and had them but can’t remember whether it was on Britannia or KLM?

Clearly they stuck them in the oven once the meals had been served. So, if you happened to be travelling on a short hop with no hot meal, did you get one?

I also fondly remember Dan-Air chocolate biscuits (with the logo in chocolate) :p

I loved hot towels, shame the cost cutting has got rid of them along with take off sweets and other things.
