Low Cost Airlines

Sorry for the vague title – hopefully the next paragraph refines my point a little!

I was considering using either Virgin Blue or Jetstar last week, when I was in Australia. Fancied a few days away somewhere. As it happens, tiredness/illness prevented that.

The only “low cost” airlines I have used before are Easyjet and Ryanair. I disliked them both, especially Ryanair. That’s just my personal preference. One major reason for that, is the way the airlines don’t allocate you a seat at check in. I really, really hate the undignified and hassling rush to board the plane in order to get a good seat. The use of busses to get from terminal to aircraft worsens this.

If a low cost airline did actually allocate seats, I might consider using them. What are Jetstar and VB like on this issue?
