I’m not sure if this has been posted before; if so, apologies:
“CSA to serve Glasgow from October 31
July 22, 2004
The first daily scheduled service between Glasgow and Prague will be opened by CSA Czech Airlines on October 31, 2004. Services will be operated with Boeing 737-500 series aircraft with both Business and Economy classes.
‘It has always been our intention to serve Glasgow and we will be able to do this for the coming winter season while still serving Edinburgh and so provide the Scottish market with a more balanced schedule’, said CSA director for the U.K., Bohuslav Santrucek. ‘This way the Scottish market retains its l3 flights weekly compared with only five flights weekly last winter.
‘It is planned to retain similar timings to those currently available between Edinburgh and Prague, by retaining the early morning flights from Edinburgh and by having the early afternoon departures from Glasgow.
‘For many travellers from Scotland, with access to both Edinburgh and Glasgow airports, there will be little change apart for those from Glasgow and Western Scotland who will find that they have an afternoon departure leaving from their own airport.
‘When we introduced the afternoon flight from Edinburgh last spring, it was timed in part to make it easier for passengers from Glasgow and the West of Scotland to check-in at a more convenient hour as opposed to the early morning check-in required for passengers catching the early morning service. Now their choice has again been improved’ Mr Santrucek said.
CSA’s director added: ‘The assistance given by the BAA Scotland and the support given by Scottish Enterprise is something that CSA would also like to recognize’

Footnote: CSA launched Edinburgh-Prague non-stop service on April 14, 2003 with a five times weekly frequency. This was increased to 13 in March of this year.”

It might all end in tears, who will withdraw first?
I remember a similar ‘battle’ at EDI between FR and Go-Fly
over the DUB route…the rest is history.. 🙁
I imagine if anyone pulls out it may be Globespan ?
Why…? Well it’s in CSA’s interests to serve as many routes as possible from Prague and the Czech Republic generally. It’s in Fly Globespan’s interests to serve as many routes as possible from Glasgow, Edinburgh and the rest of Scotland.
If things got too thin for two operators I’d rarther see CSA stay and Globespan try another destination. That way we as punters still have a Prague service as well as another place to go direct from Scotland. :p

WOW great news!
I love flyin CSA they are a really good airline.
People think of them as if they are still stuck in the comunist days, but infact they are really a great airline.
I would Use CSA every time for my flight to Prague never any1 else. i would choose CSA over BMI-baby form MAN any day!
GO CZECH lol

Nothing like a bit of optismism.
One must be realistic…I’m a pessimist. 😮
