He’s not actually starting in Kinloss until September unfortunately Allen. He’s off for a knee operation any day now and that’ll put him out of action for 6 weeks. Shame really – I would have loved to have seen the look on his face if you had have said you kinda knew his brother! 🙂

My brother has just finished his Flight Eng training at RAF Cranwell and is bound for RAF Kinloss to train further and eventually work on the Nimrod.

I’m off to Kinloss in a week or so to take some photos on a Nimrod flight and around the base. Mibbe I’ll bump into your brother ?

A majority of the airlines registered in the member states of the EU wear the gold stars flag. In some cases its shown as well as their own national symbols and in some cases instead of same. Some airlines feature the EU flag as an integral part of their own logos. IMO about time it was displayed on BA as it is on many airlines in the UK, but perhaps thats a topic for another forum!

Well it seems that I did see the EMB190 land after all. Bugger! If that’s the case, it was flying about half an hour earlier than it was planned to have been. Bugger bugger bugger!!! 😡

The EMB190 has flown every day this week, certainly flew on Saturday. The C130 was late on Friday, and the B52 late yesterday which mucked the timings up a bit, but I don’t recallt he 190 being significantly later than scheduled?

Nope not yet in service, you think EZY would allow one of their planes to be parked up at an airshow for a week!:D

That would be a fully fledged bar-steward of a good point :o. Good job I’ve nothing to do with the organising of the Monarch fleet!! 😀

Agreed Andrew. The Embraer not flying (at the advertised time) was a big let down for me. I’m sure though I came out of one of the halls and caught the tail of the Embraer rumbling down the runway and then I’m just as sure that I saw it taxi to it’s stand next to the A318. Had it flown at all? Did I miss it? I went to Fairford last Sunday as well and I kind of enjoyed it although military isn’t really my bag. My brother has just finished his Flight Eng training at RAF Cranwell and is bound for RAF Kinloss to train further and eventually work on the Nimrod. We managed to get a tour of the Nimrod at Fairford when I told the pilot there about my bruv going on to them. There seemed to be a lot more at Fairford, but the £35 entrance fee was ridiculous and I will not be paying that amount to go there again. FAB, on the other hand was free thanks to a buddy in Monarch Engineering! 😀 Looking forward to your photos too. 🙂

Great stuff Dean! The SAA 747 was ace, one heck of a show – never knew a 747 was able to pull off moves like that.

The show this year however did dissapoint me a little – the EMB-190 for instance not flying on the Saturday show. 🙁 Any reason behind this? Thats twice running now that i have been to the FAB show, and Embraer do nothing, either through not being there or not flying. I noticed PT-SIB (the 135 legacy) was still there yesterday but had sadly been moved well away from its static park placement it took up during the trade days of last week – again, was there a reason for this?

The flying as a whole was great, but very much like this Fairford, it was lacking in a few places. Most probably though down to half of the stuff billed during the past week had left before the public days. 🙁

Cheers Once again for your shots. 🙂 I’ll be posting a few later from yesterday.

The french reg was covering up a british reg (G-EZES I think it was). I don’t know if this aircraft is in service with EZY or not yet but I’m sure one of you guys can tell me.

Yes but A320 series aircraft are built and tested in Germany, France only gets the widebodies.
Nobody I have spoken to seems to understand the French reg, instead of the usual German one.

F-W— registrations are temporary, for newly-manufactured aircraft that are on test in France.

Why does that EZY airbus have an F reg? How many EZY/British airlines are not G reg? Also, why does it have the EU flag instead of Union Jack/St Georges cross, are there other airlines which have the EU flag now?

Thanks for your kind words lads. Sandy, I think the SAA B744 was by far the highlight of the show for me, although I did enjoy seeing the A318 and the A346 in the skies for myself. SAA spoiled us though – truly spectacular! 😎

I loved the first SAA photo and the underwing EZY A319 shots – two of my better photos. I’m getting there slowly! 😮
