Wow, was very surprised when i saw AH2064 coming from Oran, with aircraft type 727! I didn’t know they had them fitted with hushkits! Unfortunately my dad won’t let me go to the airport alone. I hope some pictures will apear of it soon at A.net or jp.net.
Do you know anything about the 727’s in Air Algerie’s fleet?

-VEV was also flying when I was in Algiers in April… Didn’t see -VEA, although there were plenty of 727s (and 737s) stored in various states of disrepair around the airport.

As far as I know they are about to be replaced, but not very soon.
According to www.aerotransport.org they are currently operating three 727-2D6 Advanced whereas the remaining seven are stored at Algiers-Houari Boumedienne Airport.
Currently in service are:
7T-VEA 20472/850
7T-VEU 22373/1664
7T-VEW 22375/1723
– and as can be seen from the line numbers, both -VEU and -VEW are quite young (there were 1,832 727s manufactured between 1963-1984).

For anyone with an interest in Arab airlines, I recommend the website of the Arab Air Carriers Association which contains lots of interesting info about airlines from Morocco to the Persian Gulf.
