This has been discussed briefly before, but has today been formally announced on the Teesside Airport website.
The flight will be operated by a NCL Britannia 757 and will run for 4 weeks this winter.
A bit of a boost after a significant reduction in IT activity this winter.

Slope off to France as New Ski Destination Skis into Teesside for 2005
Teesside Airport is launching its first-ever flight to Lyon, France, with the UK’s No. 1 ski specialist, Crystal Ski.This exciting new departure starts from Teesside Airport on Saturday 8th January 2005 and the last flight returns on 12 February, giving ski enthusiasts in Teesside the chance to enjoy an action packed ski adventure without having the hassle of flying out of a London airport.
Many of France’s most famous and valued ski resorts can be easily accessed from Lyon, including Val d’Isere, Tignes, Courchevel, Meribel, Mottaret, Val Thorens, La Tania, Brides les Bains and Les Menuires in the Three Valley ski area, as well as Les Arcs and La Plagne in the Paradiski area. Other ski resorts which are easily accessible via Lyon airport include, La Rosière, Les 2 Alpes, Alpe d’Huez, Chamonix, Argentière, Valmorel, Valloire and Valmeinier.
The lead-in price with Crystal Ski for 2005 is £304 per person in Alpe d’Huez in the 3 star Les Bergers Apartments for 7 nights on a self-catering basis, including return flights and transfers from Teesside to Lyon. Skiing is said to be almost to your doorstep and close to the meeting points for ski school and lifts.

Just to let you know Flyglobespan have announced route changes.ALC-AGP and GLA-ALC will be operated 6 times weekly this winter up from 2 last winter and Glasgow to Tenirife will also be back twice weekly.

Just keep in mind if you’re a ski fan that Lyon (LYS) is quite away from the ski resorts.
It take 2 or 3 hours by car to reach the snow from LYS.
