Last time I took taxi shots at EDI was October last year,
it was great then, one could rely on the odd camera-size
holes to get excellent close-ups without resorting to
ladders.
All that is a thing of the past since BAA erected that 14ft
fence. more suitable for a prison than an airport?
I heard rumours that BAA were considering ‘custom’ holes – anyone?
Here’s a few shots I can no longer take 😡

The the left of that phote, just out of sight you have a parking apron for regional props etc.
You could place a T2 there for heavies and shift the props to the top of the picture on the remote stands
Thats where the new terminal developments are destined for.. The Gogar Burn will be culverted and the recent car parks on the old runway 06 will be erased to make room for stands.
The GAT is to be moved over the east side of 12/30 to allow
for further terminal expansion – car parks?
As I said earlier your grandchildren will be be cutting the ribbons. 😀 😀

The obvious thing to do in the short term is to extend the terminal Eastwards, where all those buses are parked upto where the other apron begins.
Thats the plan! Or do BAA have no plan? The full ‘horse-shoe’-shaped terminal was in the original plan-form when
the terminal was built in the 70s.
The parallel taxiways were also in that plan…here we are 35 years later and they are just getting built!
I reckon that Sandy’s grandchildren might be cutting the
ribbon on EDI’s much-needed runway extension in 35
years time.. 😡 😡

Bang goes the ‘push-back’ space! Time BAA got going
on the proposed terminal 2 over at the 12/30 side. 😮

You see, I presume it has been, or will be gettign built over:
An early shot, no taxiway work in evidence.. 🙁
Word is the taxiways could be completed by late September. :p
The tower crane on the new ATC tower site is in place.
it gives some idea of the eventual tower height.

With the current building work in the terminal it is getting built over?
When the work is finished all the domestic gates will have been extended out so if it does still exist the view will be completely obscured by the terminal extension.

The new fence is smaller gauge wire, not strong enough to resist a determined ‘attack’ the other one was stronger.
I wonder if BAA plan to reinstate the spectator terrace
in the terminal? Its still there I believe?

More excellent pics I like how you can see the passengers 🙂 , BAA probably see the new fence as necessary! Even though the old one was fine I’d say.
