Minor Heathrow Collision Yesterday

I’ve just been browsing the Airliners.net website and someone mentioned that at about 2.00pm yesterday (Wednesday), a United Airlines 777-200 clipped the wing of an Air Jamaica A340-300.

Apparently, the 777 flight returned to the terminal and was subsequently cancelled. The A340 was able to continue its journey to Montego Bay via Kingston.

It was flight JM002 and UA905 (the United flight that I was on some time ago) and they were departing from 27L.

The departure ATIS clearly says, all the time, “Wingtip clearance is not assured in the runway holding areas. Pilots should exercise caution at all times”

This is not the first time it has been ignored and won’t be the last.

I wouldn’t say it was ignored, probably just a slight lapse in concentration

I wonder what will happen with the United 777, does any one know if it’s been grounded at Heathrow?
