AN emergency aboard an Air New Zealand aircraft during a flight to Honolulu forced it to return to Auckland today, New Zealand’s National Radio reported.
The report said the aircraft, carrying 137 passengers, developed a wing flap fault and dumped fuel before it landed safely.
The flap was being inspected to find out what went wrong.
National radio quoted an Air New Zealand spokesperson as saying passenger safety was not compromised at any time. The passengers were transferred to another Honolulu flight.

Sounds like a technical fault not an emergency.
To the gentlemen (and ladies) of the press, any tech problem = emergency. Just use the words ‘plunge’ ‘panic’ ‘plummet’ ‘terror’ ‘scream’ (you get the picture) and arrange into some fiction that allegedly has something to do with aviation.

Its not really surprising to me, because im pretty sure that their 767 fleet is getting old! i think the latest model of the -200 version was built in 1988
