Small plane makes emergency landing on main Beirut street

A Cesna 172 plane landed at around 10:30 am (0730 GMT) on the main street in Jnah neighborhood, close to the Marriott hotel located in south of the capital, said the source, who did not wish to be identified.
The engine of the plane encountered problems, so the instructor asked for permission to land in this area.

Congrats to the pilot and his instructor on performing an excellently performed forced landing after engine failure.

Reminds me of Gary Numans experience putting his down on one of our motorways a few years back!!

WOW! I’d love to wake up one morning and see a light aircraft land on the main road, a few cars ‘ll get squashed but aw well!

mmm…me too !! Actually I was plannning to take some courses with the company that owns that airplane (JR Executive) this summer, but after what happened, I’m thinking again !! 🙁

Very unusual, although I’ve never heard anyone say can I land on the road please?!

well the funny thing is that the pilot helped avert an overland traffic disaster by shouting from the plane’s window to a cyclist on the ground to stop traffic at both directions of the highway, screaming “I have engine trouble and must land soon” !!!!!
so the cyclist jumped to the middle of the road, waving cars to stop and virtually securing a landing space for the Cessna, which touched down without any casualties apart from the damage it sustained.
