Taken from pprune, someone said that a MAN-Vegas service was confirmed with a press release to follow shortly!
I have no info when the service will start but i think it could start in October because the Carribean service only takes 3 days sort of out of any aircraft, so there could be say a twice weekly service to Vegas?!

A332 sorry.
By: SHAMROCK321 - 6th July 2004 at 21:10
All EI service to LAX are A333.
By: SHAMROCK321 - 6th July 2004 at 21:10
The A333 carries more passengers but the A332 has more range.

The Skyservice a/c had the same amount of seats as the MyTravel a/c give or take one or two seats.

I think the A333 has more pax capacity han range, a plug between the A343 and A332 probs.
RIP, i havent heard anything more than wot was talked about in March
By: LBARULES - 5th July 2004 at 16:54
Ah right thanks for that 🙂

Apparently the A330-300 does not have the range of the 200 ?

RIPConcorde Ive seen them planes here for mysely.VS 744 and A340,SAA744 BA 777,BA 744 the SQ744F we have twice a week but a fully loaded A340 say operating to ORD or LAX from Dublin would end driving through the lights onto the road into the field and then ram all those lovely little cotteges in newtown.
By: LBARULES - 5th July 2004 at 16:02
Sorry to be nosey, but why did the -300 need a tech stop whereas the -200 didn’t?
By: SOFTLAD - 5th July 2004 at 16:01
As LBARULES states the A330-200 can make vegas no problem. However when MyTravel had the Skyservice A330-300 on lease it had to make a tech stop most weeks on the o/b sector. Bit of a pain really as it’s a long enough day as it is.

I’ve seen the news on pprune, but until I see it on the bmi website, I’m going to hold back the excitement.
Seems strange that no one can find anything official about this.

Yey its true then!
bmi are thinking of starting trans-atlantic service from scotland mate, using the A319LR it seems.
And def bmi will go for more A330’s from MAN now!
Heard about that too.
But will it ever happen?

So now that the post 9/11 effect is calming down, we might just see that service come to fruition some time soon ?
I think Boston-Logan would make an obvious destination choice, or dare I say west coast destinations such as San Francisco, LA or indeed Vegas ?
I sincerely hope so. They could make EDI and GLA work together, GLA having the slightly longer runway could maybe cope with the west coast destinations? and the likes of ORD and East coast from EDI!
Oh yes, that would be bliss! 😀

Sir Michael Bishop himself stated they were planning on starting transatlantic services from EDI, but that was before 9/11. 🙁

MyTravel already use the A330 on flights to Vegas, so that is absolutely no problem.
I have seen those flight times and flight numbers on Pprune, though on the BMi website, no news of them, not on the timetables either, so I wonder where this person has got these times and details from?
Hope it is true, is great to see BMi doing great long haul from MAN, lets hope they add even more soon!

If your refering to Dublin then youll find your wrong, Dublin can handle an A340 easily and for that matter anything like 747s etc too as VS have flown their aircraft in their to FLS from time to time! (there are pictures of it too)
It all depends on what kind of payload they are carrrying. VS 744s etc. will probably be only coming from LHR. Most airports can handle that!

Id like to see A340s here but they runway just aint long enough.

Something like 11,000 miles in an A330-200 is achievable. Manchester-Las Vegas would be about 7000 to 8000 miles ?
I’d like to see BMI offer US services from Scotland, making them the only UK airline to offer scheduled services to the states from here.
