Iberia gets it's first 744

Iberia Boeing 747-412
Singapore – Changi (SIN / WSSS Singapore, June 25, 2004
9V-SMC (cn 24063/736) The first shots of Iberia’s first 747-400 is seen at Changi after a 20 minute flight test prior to delivery to the Spanish airline (will be registered TF-AMA and leased from Air Atlanta).
I wonder if this is one of the Ex Ansett birds

I don’t think wet lease is the correct word for the Air Atlanta lease to iberia. ACMI lease is better.

ACMI stands for Aircraft, Crew, Maintainance, Insurance, and these are the exactly the things that Atlanta is providing to Iberia. Iberia, on the other hand, pays for fuel, traffic rights, handling etc. All the million things that make an airline tick.

Dry lease is where an operator leases one of it’s aircraft to another operator and is totally spot free of anything. The airline taking over the aircraft has to care for it as it’s one of it’s own.

Wet lease is where the owner of the aircraft is operating the services of another company and paying all the bills. Crew, maintainance, insurance, fuel, traffic rights…….the whole works.

Then there is what is called Annex 6 lease. Don’t get me started on that one 😮 😀 That’s really complicated 😀 😀

Its because they are operated by Air Atlanta, which is an Icelandic operator. Lots of airlines have wet leases from them.

Yes i know it’s Ex Singapore Allen, what i mean is the Ansett 744’s were leased from SIA and i wondered if this bird was one of those

AFAIK Steve TF-AMA began it’s career with Singapore, spent a little while with China Airlines before returning to Singapore who then sold it onto Air Atlanta, who as we can see have wet leased it to Iberia. 😉

BA was my favourite 744 colrs but BMI also became my favourite A319 colors so it might wear off.

They have 2 active, TF-AMA, delivered to Singapore, and TF-AMB again delivered to Singapore. No Ansett involvement with these 2.

GE or PW engines? Not RR because they look different.
Doesn’t matter what planes they get, in flight entertainment and food will always remain at a low quality.
