F-BVFA photos and a few others fresh from the USA

I promise to get to the Concorde pictures but before I do, here are a few others that I’m sure you’ll enjoy. The Air & Space Washington-Dulles branch museum is a great museum but has a lot of room to grow since it’s so new. Here are a few of the commerical aircraft they have on display.

Enterprise isn’t a Space Shuttle, though, it’s only a mockup…

As the first line in the article you posted stated:

Enterprise, the first Space Shuttle Orbiter…

Although it is not a spacecraft, the Enterprise was used in flight tests, to make sure the brick they call the space shuttle would glide in our atmosphere.

So, you could say it was a prototype of sorts.

The Space Shuttle Enterprise is the only one with it’s only hangar currently. 🙂

If you look at the end of each hangar you’ll see that they have huge doors for moving the aircraft in and out. You can see the doors in the background of the Shuttle picture and the first Concorde picture.

it makes you wonder how they get them all in there !!

Would I be right in thinking they build (partially) the museum around the larger exhibits ?

Good to see they’ve left the AF Concorde as it would appear in daily AF service….. dirty 😀

So a glider get’s his own hanger and the most beautifull airplane ever build doesn’t. I call it discimination :D.

Both of them fascinating pieces of aviation history, I like the mix of aircraft in the one hall. Concorde looks fantastic and I can’t wait to see G-BOAA on display in Scotland.
