Virgin Blue confirmed it has held talks with Asian carriers, including Malaysia’s AirAsia, Singapore based Valuair and Thai Airways International on expanding discount air services.
Virgin Blue chief executive Brett Godfrey said Asia was probably the last big and low cost market opportunity for airlines.
Richard Branson, whose Virgin Group owns 25% of Virgin Blue, said in December that he was in contact with Asian airlines to replicate his success in Australia.
