No I don’t think so, the Lisbon flights do quite well with Club Europe sales, and so they will probably just put the Club Europe people in First and possibly Club, and try to squeeze as many people as possible in the rest of the plane!
It would be far too expensive to remove the 1st/Club seats and then put them back in a month later.

Will the seating be reconfigured? I assume passengers aren’t going to need Club World Flat Beds on a 2.5 hour flight.

Not quite, a spare 767 (God knows where from as they are all supposedly over used anyway) is having to operate one of the JFK frequencies from LHR to allow these 744s to go to LIS.
Coupled with a problem on the RB211s on the 744s, and the 777s being held up longer in the middle east having to route through Kuwait and the number of planes on the ground at Heathrow is startling low!

If you look at the British Airways hangars at London Heathrow Airport, you’ll always see two, three or even four 747s sat there, doing nothing!
I do believe that all of their high density routes are operated by 747s or 777s. And with the number of flights that BA operates to European cities (like Lisbon), there is little point operating 747s on them.

What does BA do with them when they aren’t needed for football matches and other temporary v high density routes? Surely BA can’t afford to have them sitting around waiting for football matches and for Tony Blair to hire one?

British Airways have more than enough 747s to go around. It is very unlikely that it will affect other flights regularly operated by this aircraft.

Wish I was on one of those flights!!!!!!!!!
What are BA doing about the flights that normally have a 744 service and have had the a/c taken off the route for the Lisbon route?
