I was reading an article in “The Independent” today about the surprise share rights issue by Lufthansa in Frankfurt when I came across an almost “by the way” paragraph at the end of the article which stated that Virgin Atlantic has delayed its delivery of A380s by 18 months due to several of the intended hub airports being unprepared for the A380s arrival, including LAX. Does anyone know more about this? 😮

Air France have also delayed delivery citing out stations not being ready in time as the reason.

We had a thread talking about this before. The way I see it, as long as LHR and at least 2 other airports can handle the thing, there’s no reason to delay delivery by 1 1/2 years. That’s a long time. Which airports will be A380 friendly at the time of initial deliveries?
Also, elaborate more on the LH FRA slot gimmick. What does this entail?
