Hi,
Due to the lovely weather in the past 3 days I’ve been to the airport twice, saturday and sunday evening and I have done alot of spotting out my back garden. Yesterday I heard a loud aircraft coming and what came over the house looking huge? Yes, an AN-124, the last time I had seen this plane land at MAN I was doing my SATS which brought back bad memories. 😮 :p
Then today at about the same time it came in again! Does anyone know if it is going to come in again this week as I’m dying to catch it land when I’m at the airport,
thanks,
MANAIRPORTMAD!! 😉

Anyone know if theres any such planes (Antonovs)at MAN on Saturday, as I’m going down and would love to see one. I saw the AN-124 at EMA a few months ago, and it was great. Massive machines!
Cheers

It’s the way their registrations start in “UR” and “RA” that gives it away, you know……..
Antonov Design Bureau are Ukrainian, while Polet and Volga-Dneipr are Russian, and most of these flights are military charters moving heavy loads, including equipment that won’t fit into a C17.
Anybody fancy going back in time 20 years and telling the MOD that they’ll be relying on chartered Russian and Ukranian heavy transport aircraft by 2004? 😀

ah, OK. Thanks.

They are largely from Russia and the Ukraine.
