I’ve been many times, in fact I’m on the BY flight to FAO tomorrow morning at 06-10 from BHX….Typical of med type airports, built on a large yellow metal substructure. A viewing roof (not good views but you get a good tan…..) If you go upstairs to the left of the retaurant you can see the arrivals baggage all through glass windows.

Im flying with Lufthansa, who you flying with?
Lufthansa, of course! Star Alliance, baby! You have quite a layover right there. Come to think of it, I have a long one myself at 2.5 hours. Plenty of time to have some free booze in the lounge, maybe find the observation deck and do some spotting. 😉

They’ve finally finished the ILS installation to the westerly runway and still use the VOR approach to the easterly. The local topography occasionally causes localised fog but generally it’s a nice easy place to fly into. The baggage services leave a lot to be desired however and frequently cause us delays getting out on time.

The inside of the terminal is very yellow from what I recall (late-1990s). I also went there in 1989 before the new(ish) terminal opened. At that time, the airport was really basic and the check-in desks were outside, under a veranda 🙂
