dark light

Guess where I've been again today……..

Well, this was my last weekday visit to Ringway for some time (barring Bank Holidays).

The piccies are:

1) XA-NGS, Global Express
2) F-GUGF, Airbus A318 of Air France
3) EC-INF, CRJ of Air Nostrum
4) Unknown BmiBaby 737-500
5) TF-ATU,B767-300 of Excel Airways.

The weather wasn’t very co-operative as you will see………..

you didn’t happen to get a pic of me landing in G-EMBO around 12:35 and then taking off again in G-BRYZ half an hour later? The two bmi 330’s were still on the ground at the time, though not parked next to each other at the time.

Yeah we have 4 satellites here (soon to be 5) with about 20 gates on each. The Alpha’s are for the cargo, which generally shows up the most surprises. The Bravo’s tend to have a lot of EZY, but this is also where much of the Charter stuff and other interesting things go from. But when it get to the Charlie’s and Delta’s, don’t ask! You will literally see 737 after 737, as most of the other 737 operators including Air Berlin use these. Then if you want to see half of the Ryanair fleet in one, look at the Delta’s. This one was built for Ryanair, and is 100% dominated by them.

Ok, glad that’s cleared up! I have been to Stansted once, in November on G-EZYT from Newcastle. I saw an Asiana 747, Fedex MD11 and some other freighters too, but the reason I say 737 city is because where we parked, there was just 737 after 737 on every stand. But yes, you do get a few suprises!

But then saying this, don’t try going up there after about 8pm! Was up there a couple of weeks ago til late, and in 2 hours I got 23 Ryanair 737’s and 10 EZY’s. Wasn’t too bad though, cos I got to see all of the brand new ones, so it meant new reg’s and that lovely livery!

When I’ve been to STN it is just 737 after 737, but then it throws up some surprises that you probably won’t get anywhere else in the UK, which I was happy to see such as Cygnus Air DC8 and Fedex MD11 which I had never seen before, so it was nice to see them when I visited. 🙂

I don’t want to argue with you now wannabe pilot, I didn’t mean to get you annoyed!

Sorry, I’m not arguing! I should have put a ‘ 🙂 ‘ in there! Just trying to highlight the fact that we are so over shadowed by Ryanair and Easyjet that it makes the airport look bad.

And don’t forget practically the whole ex-Buzz fleet of 737’s in that time! On that particular evening, saw BZZE, BZZF, BZZG, BZZG and BZZI. Also got 2 EZY -700’s, EZJY and EZJC. On most evenings we should have seen the Onur Air A321 aswell, but this was running late.

Ok, don’t get annoyed! I was saying you will more than likely get more 737’s than anything else! Calm down.

No! No, no, no. Why is Stansted just in the huge shadow of Ryanair and Easyjet?! Anyone that lives here will know, STN is always underestimated because of RYR and EZY creating such a big image here. You have to expect the 737’s, as they are the world’s most popular airliner. However, we do get lots of variation. A typical hour and a half at Stansted, looking from my registration book, will show these up:

3 GSS 747-400F’s (If you’re lucky enough to see them all at once, most of the time only 2 on the ground)
1 Eastern Airways J41
1 Aurigny Saab 340
1 Aurigny ATR
1 West Air Sweden ATP
1 Thomas Cook A320
1 MYT A320
1 Air Contractors ATR
1 Air Contractors A300
1 Asiana 747-400F
1 Titan 146
2 FedEx MD-11’s
1 UPS 767
and 1 Polet An-124

That is not including any 737’s. If you include these aswell, here’s what ya get:

9 Ryanair 737-800’s
2 Ryanair 737-200’s
5 Easyjet 737-300’s
3 Air Berlin 737’d
1 Air Berlin Fokker 100
1 CSA 737
1 Malev 737
1 Transavia 737
1 Iceland Express 737
and 1 Channel Express 737

That was several weeks ago on a Thursday evening, from about 5-7pm.

So, it’s like 737 and 757 city down there then! I didn’t realise there was that many 757’s in Stansted. Ta for the info.

Britannia have a few based 757’s. We also get Transavia ones, a few private ones, namely Mid East Jet. Also get the based Titan one, DHL visit sometimes and as I mentioned now, FCA and TCX are using them. Think MYT are also planning to base one instead of one of their A320’s.

Do you get many 757’s at Stansted? Or is it just 737 city down there!

Great pics, lucky to see the Air France A318! I was hoping to take a ride up STN this evening, but clouds have come in. Quite a lot due in tonight, and I know FCA and TCX have replaced some of their A320 flights with 757’s which is a bit more interesting.
