Saba (SAB) "airport"

Here are a few pictures from SAB airport. Juancho Yrausquin Airport, better “outlying auxiliary emergency airstrip”. Though it is officially close (note the “X”!), official special permits allow some airlines to go there. Pictures taken from a Twin Otter. The overall hard runway surface is 1400ft long.

You are correct, I completely overlooked that. They have to have security personnel on duty, however. 😮

I think WinAir (Windward Island Airways) flies there from SXM. If it is ‘closed’ are there customs officials on duty for those ‘special permit’ flights that do operate into there?

No, Saba is part of the Netherland Antilles, as is St.Marteen, so no customs. Technically you stay in the EU I guess.

Can that even be called an airport?

Looks like a model aircraft strip!

Jesus, you’d want to have 100% braking action, the overshoot leaves a lot to be desired
