BA 737-400s @ LGW

I have noticed two BA 737-400’s I think the reg’s are G-DOCB & DOCR sitting around the hangars at Gatwick for the past month. Both are painted in white with a plain blue tail. Does anybody know where these aircraft are off to. I presume they have been sold awaiting delivery to their new airline.

Oh I see.

I was having trouble figuring out why an F/A would be on a delivery flight.
thanks for clearing that up 😀

I’ve flown Ba 732’s twice (including returns) brilliant aircraft, excellent service 😀

I’m not a pilot Bm55, I’m Cabin Crew. I have flown at LGW for several airlines including BA, now shorthaul LHR.

I was on the Tucson trip for fire watch and to feed and water the pilots.

Ah, so that would make you a BA pilot then.
Care to specify whether Capt or F/O??

Jeanske,

The last of BA’s 737-200’s was disposed of about 4 years ago. They went off to various places, mostly South America and Africa as you might imagine.

I was lucky enough to take G-DGDB to Tucson Arizona, via Lasham, Keflavic and Montreal, on it’s delivery flight to WinAir.

I also operated the last commercial service of a BA -200 from MAN to LGW.

Their 737’s are mostly delivered in the beginning of the nineties, so they are probably older than 10 years.
Where did their 737-200’s go, where they advanced series or basic?

A shame, I have to say. I’ve flown a few of the British Airways 737-400s:

G-DOCD
G-DOCM
G-DOCN
G-BVNN

And all but one are going to new homes!

I’ve flown on G-DOCR. Not too bad a flight, for a 737…

Air One used to be involved in the Qualiflyer group.

It is just a LH partner. Its kind of one step down from a franchise really, they take part in the LH frequent flyer progrmme, integrate flight times, and codesharing between Germnay and Italy.
However they fly a lot of scheduled and charter routes from Italy to many places outside of Germany.

I think they lease all their aircraft.

It appears they are some sort of partner with Lufthansa. Perhaps acting as a feeder service to the bigger LH hubs

Well, that would explain the blue tails.

Allen, check out this link for Air One:

http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.search?&aircraft_genericsearch=Boeing%20737%25&airlinesearch=Air%20One%7CUntitled%20%28Air%20One%29%7CAir%20Sicilia%20%28Air%20One%29%7CSwissair%20Express%20%28Debonair%20Airways%20%2F%20Air%20One%29&maxres=500&nr_of_rows=117&first_this_page=0&page_limit=15&sort_order=photo_id+DESC&thumbnails=&engine_version=6.0&nr_pages=8&page=

So are they some kind of Lufthansa subsidiary ?

They seem to have a United Nations of aircraft registrations and wide variety of 737 types from classic to modern.

G-DOCM is leased to Deutsche BA from the 16th of May and G-DOCZ is WFU from April 30th according to Jethro’s listings. The other reg’s mentioned appear to be still in BA service ?

I think your right Bmused55, BA are slowly reducing the 737’s in their fleet. Got to say it’s a pity

Indeed

BA are going for Airbus on their short/medium haul routes and Boeing for long haul.

A D-check does not involve painting a plane with a white Fuse and blue tail.

A D-check would involve stripping the plane of all paint and all interior furnishings, even the insulation.

My guess is these 737’s are bound for a new home. I’d bet on the new home being Deutsche BA

They are owned by British Airways.
Maybe a D-check? G-DOCB is delivered in 1991, G-DOCR in 1992.

Are these aircraft on a lease? If so could it be that they are soon to be returned to the lessor?

G-BVNM was at LHR on friday, in no markings at all.
