Anybody been to, or spotted at, Lasham?
Went past it today and I think I saw around six B727s. As far as I could see they were white tailed/bodied – but since this was all briefly visible through a gap in the trees whilst driving on the ‘by-pass’ to the west of the airfield thats hardly surprising. There was also a widebody there – Tristar or DC10 type. Also something in yellow!
I have been there before and watched the gliders, but the airliners are usually only visible as tails to the west, so a view point and a heads-up as to what happens or whats there would be nice.

Maybe its having the “My” sticker applied to the tail?

Maintenance or repainting I would assume, hopefully the latter 😉

I believe that if you drive into the village there are good views from various points there. Sometimes there is stuff parked outside that you can see from the gliding club end.

There are better views if you turn left out of the gliding club and take the next left by the house before the main road. It takes you to the security barriers and gives some good views. The other area is in the village turn right at the church and go past the pub. Again this takes you to the security gate. Sadly the old times of driving across the taxiway ended when a delivery lorry using the field as a short cut hit a 727 wing!

No – the gliding club end is much higher and you can only see the tails much of the time. And they don’t allow you to wander around like they used to; makes sense from a health and safety point of view. Drove through the village several times in the past but never had any luck…
